Personal & Creative Works

The following compiled pieces are a collection of creative and personal writing that I completed throughout the Hutchins program. These works helped me apply the knowledge gained in the curriculum to my personal life and gave me a space to express myself beyond traditional academic writing.

The Wanderer Poem

This poem, from LIBS 201, is my response to that semesters teaching of religion and spirituality. The Wanderer is an illustration of how I view myself lost in this world without a secure sense of spirituality. This poem was furthermore the groundwork for my memoir.

Memoir

As the final assignment for LIBS 320C, "The Art of Memoir," I was able to discover a side of myself I have always struggled to encounter: my spiritual self. This incomplete memoir explores my own coming to terms with my inability to trust in religious faith, and explores how I have come to foster my own belief of soulmates -- people who enter my life, keep me grounded in this world, and guide me onto certain paths.

My Ordinary Affects

As a response to our LIBS 202 reading of Ordinary Affects, I decided to follow the author's suit and write of three small moments in my life that proved to have profound meaning, beauty, and impact on the development of my sense of self.
