Senior Capstone Work

The following two pieces are my final assignments as an undergraduate student, and perhaps my most accomplished and prideful projects I have ever conducted. These works provide a glimpse of how I intend to apply all that I have learned into my future and lead a socially just and service driven life.

Senior Project

My group and I coordinated and led an on campus rally and march for mental health advocacy, expose the corrupt funding for our school's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and present a list of grievances of both students and CAPS faculty in hopes to create space for equitable change. During the march, we collaborated with another Senior Project group who created a beautiful mental health art installation that fellow marchers and students were able to contribute to. These accomplishments fulfilled our goals of organizing student led activism and increased acceptance of mental health presence and adequate services.

Independent Study

For my independent study, I endeavored to explore a potential future career path of mine as a social worker for the recent nationwide implementation of 988 mental health services, or another force tasked with responding to 911 calls concerning cases of domestic abuse, mental health crises, or incidents of homelessness as a means of preventing police brutality and engaging with more community led social care and resources. In this paper, I investigate how such programs are being implemented, and interview a police officer, a social worker, and a clinical psychologist in the field in order to explore the gaps and spaces for change within these developments.
